Welcome to UBC ON-Line Travel Service powered by concur
What is Concur?
Concur is UBC’s preferred online booking system. It is a convenient self serve portal for air, car and hotel bookings which is supported by North South Travel (NST), UBC’s full service travel vendor. NST facilitates air ticket changes and automatically provides E-Ticket receipts for reimbursement purposes.
When should I use Concur?
Concur is recommended for UBC related, simple, point to point travel within Canada or between the US and Canada. For International travel, complicated itineraries or when there are time constraints it is recommended to use the full service travel agency NST.
Why should I use Concur?
Concur is a secure business travel booking tool that generally captures more content/options than public sites, providing users the ability to efficiently located the lowest logical available fares, displaying UBC negotiated rates and SABRE public rates, CAUBO rates, internet fares and seat sales. This enables users to make better buying decisions for air, cars and hotels without having to surf around in multiple sites. In addition there is a savings on the agency service fees. The Concur fee is only $5 plus tax per unassisted ticket and NST is$37 plus tax per ticket.
Many people booking travel believe they can find the best fares, however while this may be occasionally true it is not in the best interest of the traveller and the university as a whole. Within the deregulated travel industry, fares change moment by moment based on supplier demand and no single source (agency, on-line or airline direct) can claim ownership of the lowest fares 100% of the time. Consideration should be taken to the amount of time that is spent on searching multiple sites versus utilizing UBC’s self serve or full service programs.
Advantages with Concur & North south travel:
-
Worldwide 24/7/365 assistance via toll free phone numbers, in the event of an emergency or unexpected situation.
-
When using either of UBC’s booking options your entire reservation will be tracked by UBC. In emergency situations NST uses proactive measures to contact travellers to verify if rebooking assistances is required.
-
Incorrectly issued tickets may be voided by NST if they are advised on the same business day of ticket issuance. Generally direct airline bookings, non UBC vendors, public internet sites do not provide this service.
-
More efficiency for users because there is less surf time on various internet and airline sites for air, car and hotel bookings.
-
Using UBC’s preferred vendors increases UBC’s purchasing power for future negotiations with airlines, car companies and hotels, via the consolidated data that would otherwise not be available through non UBC vendors and public sites.
